Pisa, is a charming city in Tuscany, known throughout the world for its famous Leaning Tower,( Torre Pendente). Pisa is also a university city and just as famous in academic circles for prestigious Univesities such as, La Scuola Normale Superiore which was founded by Napoleone in 1810. La Scuola Sant'Anna is also a world leader in robotics and attracts some of the best minds in the sector to Pisa.

The Historic Center of Pisa, is completely encircled by the city walls. Near Piazza dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles), we find the circular Battistero (Baptistery) - the largest of its kind in Italy, and Camposanto - (cemetary). This area of Pisa is known as the Campo dei Miracoli.

Lucca was colonised by the Romans in the 2C BC and it has retained the plan of a Roman military camp, with the two principal streets perpendicular to each other.

Today it boasts a rich patrimony of churches, palaces, squares and cozy streets, all of which contribute to her Old-World charm.

The walls extend around the entire historic center and were built in the 1500s and 1600s. The wall includes 11 bastions, linked by curtain walls, and four gateways.

Do not forget to visit Piazza San Michele. Take Via Fillungo and go to Piazza dell' Anfiteatro situated inside the Roman amphitheatre.......... and...... Guinigi Tower ...Its main characteristic is its hanging garden on the roof of the tower.
